© The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) is a registered charity (England and Wales no. 207076, Scotland no. SC037654).
The RSPB is encouraging family and friends to get involved in Big Garden Birdwatch over the weekend of 26 – 27 January 2013 – it is ‘the world’s largest wildlife survey’.
The RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch website section details why the information is important, how you can help, how they use the data, answers questions you may have and shows you how to make this into a fun family event.
There are helpful hints and tips for your Birdwatch and what birds to watch out for, also there is a helpful ‘Big Garden Birdwatch 2013 counting sheet‘.
Essentially, the data can be compared year-on-year and allow for a ‘snapshot’ of bird numbers across the UK. There is information provided on some of the population changes which the data has helped with (from data collected between 1979 to 2012).
The RSPB encourage people who love wildlife and want to do something to help – this is your chance to get involved in something that really counts.
We would love to hear how you get on and see photos of your Birdwatch Events – firstname.lastname@example.org.
